Declaration of Faith – The Shahada

This is the first pillar of Islam and is very important to Muslims as it sums up what Muslims believe in.

"I bear witness that there is no god, but the One God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God."

And reads: "Ash hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ash hadu anna Muhammadur Rasul Allah"

In Arabic it sounds like this.

When Muslims are called to come and pray in the mosque, they are reminded of these words in the adhan. They also recite these words in all five prayers, every day.
