The Diversity of Life

If you’ve been lucky enough to travel the world, you may wonder at the marvellous diversity of people: the diversity in colours, languages, cultures, religions, ideas. It is easy to be irritated or frightened by anything that is not familiar, but Islam teaches that this diversity should be valued and celebrated:

"And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the (wonderful) differences of your languages and colours. Verily, in that are indeed signs for people of sound knowledge." (Qur’an, 30:22)

"O humanity! We have created you from a single male and female and have made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another (not that you have pride over one another). Verily, the most honourable of you in the sight of God is the one most pious." (Qur’an, 49:13)
